PICKERING -- There was a time, not so long ago, when Shaquan Williams wished he could just keep up with the rest of the field every time he stepped to the start line for a race.
PICKERING -- If genetics account for anything, there is no way to predict the unlimited potential of the Sharpe twins.
AJAX -- It's a term more commonly associated with golf, but Wesley Best is hoping the IAAF world youth track-and-field championships will serve as a mulligan for him.
DURHAM -- A couple of prize prospects at the Speed Academy Athletics Club ran away with medals at the Canadian Youth Track and Field championships. Wesley Best of Ajax came up with a silver-medal-winning performance in the 200m, while Keith Cyrus Jr. of Pickering won bronze in the 110m hurdles. Both athletes reached the podium in the U18 division.
AJAX -- Wesley Best of Ajax led The Speed Academy to a 10th place finish in the Junior Division at the Ontario Bantam, Midget and Junior Track and Field Championship at York University.
PICKERING -- Wesley Best has found another race he excels at.
PICKERING -- The Speed Academy Athletics Club set the track on fire at the Ontario indoor relay championship held at the University of Windsor. The club won the youth division with a team score of 26 points, edging-out the University of Toronto Track Club and Laurel Creek Track and Field Club by just five points.
PICKERING -- The Speed Academy is off to a fast start to the 2011 indoor track-and-field season.
The Academy speedsters dominated the Phoenix Athletics all-comers track meet held at Variety Village in Scarborough, taking home a total of eight medals.
PICKERING -- The Speed Academy Athletics Club based in Pickering finished 17th overall in the 2010 Outdoor Club Championships.
Points from all the provincial championship meets held during the summer are compiled to determine the 2010 Athletics Ontario Club standings.

The switch flipped for Christopher Morales Williams in the time of the 2023 outdoor season.
Last spring, the runner from Vaughan, Ont., learned to control his negative thoughts, discovered that it was OK to feel nervous before races, and built his confidence.
Morales Williams credits the change in philosophy for the recent addition of NCAA national champion to his growing resume.
