Brandon Bobb breaks provincial record

Speed Academy runner covers 60m in 6.73

PICKERING -- Brandon Bobb has proven that it's never too late to start.

A hockey player with the Ajax Knights up until last year, Bobb traded in his skates for sneakers in the fall, and is burning up the track.

Committing to sprinting full time with The Speed Academy based in Pickering, Bobb smashed the provincial U18 60m indoor record with a time of 6.73 at a recent meet.

The switch flipped for Christopher Morales Williams in the time of the 2023 outdoor season.

Last spring, the runner from Vaughan, Ont., learned to control his negative thoughts, discovered that it was OK to feel nervous before races, and built his confidence.

Morales Williams credits the change in philosophy for the recent addition of NCAA national champion to his growing resume.
